Sofia's Personality

Out of all the sisters I feel that Sofia shares the more exciting stories in the novel. Being the youngest of all four girls she is the one who gained most of my attention multiple time as I read the novel.

"Sofia was the one without the degrees. She had always gone her own way."
Sofia is more different than all four girl, she had the more simple life without a doubt yet she was the one with the boyfriends, and all her sisters asked her (the younger one) for advice on boys. Doesnt that make you think why would they all ask her for the advice, wouldnt you think they would mostly ask the older sister for advice? What do you think this shows?

  1. I really don't think that it matters whether they ask the older sister or not. This is so because Sofia's personality is probably a lot more like able and social than all of the other sister's. It doesn't matter about age, just personality (but sometimes looks).

  2. I think Sofia is somewhat the black sheep of the family. She stands out because she was more Americanized due to the fact that she came to America at an earlier age than the other sisters. I think this is shown through the fact that she marries a German man and goes against her father.

To me, Yolanda was a very interesting character in the book. She has a very creative personality and the author seems to focus on her a lot throughout the book.

  3. I think this shows that she does stand out more because she is younger, and she is more hard-headed by always going out of her way. In a way she kind of reminds me of me, because I know my older brother and sister always ask me for advice about boys & girls, but I have a lot of sense because I watch my older siblings and try to do things differently to stand out more from them.
